Flavours of China Foodtrip

I noticed that lately there’s an influx of good restaurant deals from Metrodeal. If you haven’t checked the deals yet, make sure you visit MetroDeal.com and then click restaurants. You really don’t want to miss out on these fantastic deals!

One of the restaurants that I picked was Flavours of China. I’ve only tried the restaurant once and it was quite memorable. I went there with my beloved late father, after getting his hospital test results. I remember him liking the dishes there. So, I wanted to take the opportunity to try the Chinese dishes again.

Before going to Flavours of China (SM Sta. Rosa Branch) with my best friend, she called in advance to reserve a table for us because we didn’t want to make the same mistake as before. She was told that reservation is not necessary and we can just walk-in. Thanks MetroDeal!!!

Upon arriving at the restaurant, I showed my voucher and they immediately seated us. It took us about 10 minutes to order since we couldn’t figure out what to order. It was a nice dilemma though because it meant that they had a lot to offer.  

After much deliberation, we chose Lechon Macau and Steamed Fish Fillet with Fresh Garlic in Light Superior Sauce. We also ordered 2 cups of steamed rice. The friendly waiter informed us that we can get unlimited yang chow for the same price. So, even though, I was technically on a diet, I ordered the unlimited rice. I just declared the day as my cheat day. :)

While we were waiting for our food to arrive, they gave us free crackers (which I assumed were Chinese prawn or shrimp crackers). The crackers were crispy and tasty - not the usual kropek that we cook at home. And oh, we emptied the bowl of crackers before the order even arrived.

Anyway, the main dishes that we ordered were excellent choices. I am no expert when it comes to Lechon Macau but what they gave us was so delectable. My best friend noticed that the sauce wasn’t like the usual lechon sauce or the Mang Tomas sarsa. It was way more delicious! The Steamed Fish Fillet with Fresh Garlic was sooo yummy. I know I probably can’t duplicate that dish at home. So, I’ll definitely be coming back for more. 

Not only was the food good, the whole staff was very accommodating. The manager talked to us when we were about to leave and asked us to come back again. I would gladly bring my family there anytime!

Movie Stars Cafe at SM Mall of Asia

 I've never read or heard about the Movie Stars Cafe before I saw the promo at Metrodeal. I noticed that there were thousands buying the deal so I joined the bandwagon. I got three vouchers – one for myself, my brother and my best friend.

We were so excited to check out the place! The only thing that we did wrong was that we didn't call in advance to reserve a table. We got stuck in the center table which we have to share with other customers. It's not really that bad though since we are front and center of the stage with our Metrodeal voucher.

Before going there, I did a little bit of research and learned that the buffet consists of sausages, burgers and other finger food. Honestly, we were not that excited about the food. But man, oh man, we were so wrong!  We enjoyed their mouthwatering food that we had to go back to the buffet table twice.

I got assorted sausages, burger patties, onion rings and potatoes. I even made an aloha burger (remember the defunct Jollibee burger?). And the three of us agreed that their patty is something special!   No need to worry if you hate burgers and sausages – there's plenty of other food that you can eat. They serve teriyaki, fish fillet and beef steak.  Salad, steamed vegetables, fruits and desserts were also available for Metrodeal voucher holders.

Of course, we came there not only for the food but also for the “movie stars” All around the place you will see large statues, movie props, celebrity autographs and servers in full costume. The walls are lined with lcd screens. Everywhere you look, you will be reminded that you are inside Movie Stars Cafe.

The show was very entertaining – something you should look forward to! I can't remember exactly how much production number they did. I just remember being really entertained.  If you go there, I assure you that you'll never be bored.

We managed to get a few photos of the interesting actress and actresses. We also took turns in having our pictures taken with the characters. It was such an amazing night! Thank you Metrodeal!
